Beginning Again

When you have a unique story, the story should be shared. I have felt this way for a while. But to be honest, I had no idea how to write this. Then a friend of mine told me just to sit down and write. I love to read and I love to write, so writing a blog makes sense and here we are! My name is Haley Whalen and this blog is going to tell my story. Either for everyone, or just myself, when God tells us we should do something (repeatedly because we are stubborn humans) he eventually finds a way for us to follow His path.

Why is my story unique? Well for starters, I am 28 years old and spent formative years of my adulthood worrying about things and appointments I hope no one goes through once, let alone twice, and unimaginably three times. Being diagnosed at 20 years old, I spent my 21st birthday at a hospital at a post-surgery appointment. Don’t worry, I did my fair share of making up for it when I could. This was just one of many things I missed out on growing up. Now, I am not going to sit here and complain about what I missed out on in life but rather what I have been able to gain.

Why share this story? Because someone shared theirs and it inspired me and gave me hope and now I have the ability to do the same. If I can help just one person, then the anxiety of putting my story out there is worth it.

Everyone has a cancer story. I am here to share mine and all of the branches, blessings, and wisdom that comes with it. Cancer has opened up my heart and soul in so many different ways, but most of all my relationship with God has become something much more than I have ever imagined. If you even want a sneak peek of it Matthew 6:6, just start there. Here on this page you are going find stories of God Winks, Confidence Boosters, Health, Creative Outlets, anything that has helped me develop because of this lovely experience I have had in life. None of it makes sense right now, but if you stick with me, I would love to tell you how.

-Love, Haley.
